a little confession

"Eighty percent of success is showing up"
- Woody Allen

Remember my New Year's Resolution?  Well, I have a little confession about that.  I fell off the wagon.  Then, I read this post and the simple truth of it struck me.  So, I decided to stop feeling guilty and get back to what I set out to do.

I spent Sunday working on Reid's room, which for the last few weeks has been a total disaster.  Between Christmas toys and birthday toys, we couldn't even close the closet door.  We had a school book that we had been unable to find for the last three weeks and he had stopped playing in there because it was such a mess.  We had picked up and picked up and picked up, but the truth is, what we really needed to do was just get rid of stuff.

Two giant yard bags full of toys and books are going to Salvation Army today and the room is SO much nicer now.  It's like a breath of fresh air.  And, the best part is, Reid can find what he needs and he has room to sit and play.

I really should have taken some before photos, because then you could really see the transformation, but since I didn't, here are the after shots:

What about you?  Did you make a New Year's Resolution?  Are you keeping it?

If you fell off the wagon like me, today is a good day to start again!

  2. I love this room. My son's room is all surf theme, but he's just a baby, so we have the PB Laguna set. I just love it. I would love that twin quilt when he's ready for a bigger bed.
    SUCH A GREAT ROOM!!

  4. Hello,

Love their room. We just did our boys room. New paint color and moved the beds around so that they had more room in their room to play and hang out. By Friday the kids rooms are so neat and tidy but by Monday it's a mess again. Thank you for the inspiration. I need to go through their baskets and purge.
    Thank you for sharing.

  11. I love what you did with the bookshelf on the bottom bunk. I almost want to do something similiar for my bed since it is currently against the wall. Thanks for the idea!

  12. Hi,

Newcomer to the blog! I wanted to comment to say how much I love this room and to ask, if you don't mind, where you found that bookshelf with the baskets in your son's closet! I think it would be perfect for my daughter's closet (and would hide a lot of the clutter in her room!).

    Thanks so much!
