catalina island

For the past couple years, we head out to Catalina Island to spend a week long vacation with my brother and sister in law.  I took a zillion photos and I finally had a chance to edit and make a couple collages.  Just thought it would be fun to share some snippets of our trip.

We rented a little boat and headed out to explore on this day.  We spotted a few seals too.  See that one in the picture?  He let us get pretty close.

We spent a few days camping on the back side of the island which has pretty much been left in its natural state.  It's quiet and peaceful and we spent our time just playing in the water and being mellow.

Mark took the boat back home for a few days to run our shop and my sister-in-law had to work as well, so for the time we were camping, it was just my brother and I with the boys.  He is a master camper {thank goodness} and we had a blast.   At first I was bummed that all 6 of us couldn't all go together.  But, I don't get to see my brother as often as I would like.  Once you grow up, life kind of gets in the way and there isn't as much time with your siblings to just hang out, and talk and laugh.  It was really nice to have that time and I know my boys will have such special memories.

This day was spent at Descanso beach.  Mark and I took the boys and spent the afternoon just lounging around and soaking up the sun while Reid played in the water and Grant napped.  They have a zip line and rock wall and all kinds of fun adventures to try.  We played it pretty low key, but I would like to try the zip line - maybe next year!

The city of Avalon has the coolest little pier.  It's so vintage-y looking.  The kids can buy fish food and feed the bright orange Garibaldi that swim right over for it.  There are also places to eat on the pier and lots of fun adventure rentals to try.

Such a fun little trip.  I can't wait til next year!
