how it really is...and weekly randomness via instagram

Hey there!  Sorry I have been absent from my bloggy friends for Monday and Tuesday!!  Three days in and this week is already craaazy.

Do you ever think I live in la la land, like things are perfectly perfect around here?  They are not.  I am normal and scatterbrained and some days just plain grumpy.  I need lots of grace and lucky for me the people who love me are forgiving and gentle with me.  Because some days I feel like having a good cry.  Take yesterday for instance.  I need to leave the house at 7:25 to get Reid to school.  At 7:23 I made my iced coffee.  When I went to put the cream back in the fridge the pitcher of iced coffee concentrate came flying at me and I ended up covered in a shower of coffee.  Reid was literally standing 3 feet away with his backpack on.  I undressed in the middle of the kitchen, threw my clothes in the sink and tried to clean up and get re dressed as quick as possible so we would only be a few minutes late to school.  I swear if my two kids had not been standing there, I would have just sat down in the coffee mess and cried.

By 11:00 my day was getting better.  I had finished the day's batch of orders and gotten them into the polisher and I was printing the shipping labels for the orders going out in the afternoon when....power surge.  Everything shut off and the sticky labels got jammed and stuck in the printer.  Fail.  Fast forward 30 minutes, I am back up and running.  I spend the afternoon making updates to the website only to have to undo them because I forgot to double check that the version I was uploading didn't say "proof".  Fail.  My printer called to let me know that my latest batch of thank you notes, stickers and business cards were done and ready for pick up....and I realized that they were printed with a typo.  A typo I approved, no less.  Fail, fail, fail.  That's the straw that broke the camel's back.  Cue frustrated tears followed by a big hug from my Dad and an iced caramel latte.  {I've learned that the combination of those three can cure most things}.

Ugh, some days, I'm telling you.

Thank goodness another mom from Reid's class {and friend of mine} came over last night to make a scarecrow for the class with me.  We laughed and goofed off and glued gunned and it was good for my soul.

Today will be better.  I am absolutely sure of that.

And, now that I have that off my chest, how about some Tuesday randomness {on Wednesday, cuz that's how I roll this week}.

1. Army men.  Did you know that there are 202 in the container?  I have picked up all 202 since Reid got them last weekend.  You should totally get some so you can pick them up too.  Then we could be clutter twins.

2. I second guessed my decision about putting two desks in the boys study.  Because, why does a 2 year old need a desk?  But when Reid does his homework, Grant does his "homework" {coloring} right next to him, quietly and *most* of the time he doesn't even color on the desk or the rug.  Yup, two desks was definitely the way to go.  It's adorable to see them.

3. Reid reads books to Grant on the daily.  It is the sweetest thing.

4. When I go in Grant's room after his nap, I never know where I'll find him.  Sometimes he sleeps on the floor, sometimes in his rocking chair, sometimes he even sleeps in his crib!  As long as he sleeps, that's all that matters, right?!

5.  Fresh red peppers from a sweet neighbor I just met who has a son that's a farmer {I had no idea!}.  I am going to find something really good to make with them.  Yum!

6.  We tried a new restaurant for breakfast last weekend and they brought the boys a bucket of toys to play with while we waited for our food.  Brilliant!!

7.  Sock pile.  I don't mind doing the laundry so much, but I loathe putting the socks together.  What a weirdo, huh?  I have this little system that gets me out of this chore.  I leave them right there on the bench and when my mom comes over she sees them, pairs them up and puts them away in their respective drawers literally within the first hour she is at my house.  She is totally on to me, but she does it anyway. I love her.

8.  I am the messiest painter ever, but I really do enjoy it.  I have a pretty before and after to share with you soon!

9.  These boys just adore each other and that makes me really happy.  I hope that they grow up to be best friends.  I hope they stick together and look out for one another and support each other for their whole lives.  I hope we instill in them how important that is.

I think that covers all the randomness for this week.  That was a lot, huh? Thanks for listening.  Love you guys.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!!
