a handmade holiday wish {repost}

This was originally posted last November as part of my What I Made Monday Series.  I thought it would be fun to share it again today since it's that time of year!  If you have loved ones far away, this is a fun project to do with your littles!

Welcome to the third installment of What I Made Monday!  I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend as much as I did!

This weekend Reid and I made a Merry Christmas banner to send to some loved ones.  We always send out a family photo card for Christmas, but there are a few people that we really wanted to send some extra special holiday wishes to.

Confession: this idea is not my own original creation.  I first saw it when a cousin sent my parents a Get Well banner last year.  It was adorable and we all oohed and aahed over it.  I thought we could make a modified version for sending out some handmade Christmas wishes.

If you'd like to make one, here's is what you'll need:

:: Decorative paper {the heavier cardstock works best since it won't rip when you slide it onto the ribbon}

:: Paper punch {optional}.  I used a 3" round punch, but you could also just trace and cut the circles if you don't have a punch.

:: Standard hole punch

:: Ribbon and/or twine

:: Crayons

:: Round tin

:: Tacks

:: A sweet child

Step 1 - Cut out your circles and have your child write a letter on each one.

Step 2 - Hole punch your circles

Step 3 - Thread your circles one at a time onto the ribbon.  I used a decorative paper to separate each word and to start and end the banner.

Reid wrote a message on another circle which I attached to the top of the tin with some double stick tape.  The banner went in the tin along with the tacks for hanging and we tied it up with some twine and that's it!

You could use so many fun paper combinations and you could also add printed photos.  I think this is a fun way to send a Christmas wish to a loved one far away.

I hope you like it!
