The season of entertaining is quickly approaching and I have been in the nesting mood. A lot. Lately I have been admiring front doors. Red ones. And, I finally decided, I'm going for it. This weekend our front door is getting painted. I'm pumped.
Here is our front door and porch now:
I love the exterior Craftsman style. The house is almost 100 years old and the architecture is really so cool, inside and out. But, the exterior colors just fall really flat.
Red doors are said to evoke a warm and welcoming feeling. I think they look cheerful and classic and now that we have a real front porch, I want to dress it up a bit.
We have an open door policy over here. Want to party at our house? Come on over, everyone is welcome. Bring your friend, bring your mom. Have a drink, stay awhile!! Maybe I am a crazy person, but the sounds of lots of company and lots of kids and lots of conversation make me happy. I love having a full house. We host Christmas every year and every year I say that it's my favorite day of the year. The smell of food, the happy kiddos, the hugs, the sweaters, the whole thing.
I hope that everyone who visits our home feels warm and welcome. I hope that they feel comfortable and at ease and I think that starts with the tone set at the front door.

And, this next one doesn't have a red door, but OMG, I can't resist:
Hello porch of my dreams. I love the whole room. Love the colors, love the furniture, the pendants, I could sit there for hours. Beautiful.
So, the porch update starts now. With the door. And maybe some new hardware.
Maybe I'll get crazy and follow that up with some pots, a new rug? Pillows?? Hmmmm...stay tuned!!
