tuesday randomness via instagram {valentine's decorating}

It's Tuesday!  Every Tuesday, here on the blog I share a few photos straight out of the phone, taken with my instagram app.  Usually random things.  Moments from throughout my week.  A little glimpse into the day to day.

This week I thought it would be fun to share my little Valentine's vignette.  I have officially become that mom that decorates for every random holiday.  I dig it.  Mostly because the boys dig it.  Reid thinks I am so creative.  He tells me "Mom, you can make anything!"  That's all the motivation I need.

Felt heart banner that I made last year.  You can see the simple DIY {here}

Construction paper hearts made the old fashioned way.
{Fold the paper in half, freehand cut the half heart and open it up.  I used double stick tape to attach them to the mirror, just on one side, so that they have a 3 dimensional feel.}

I added in some sparkly foam hearts for fun.

Golden horseshoes and more paper hearts.

What about you?  Do you decorate for silly little holidays, just for fun?

I hope your week is off to a great start!!  Thanks for stopping over and for joining me for another round of Tuesday randomness!!

5 minute DIY

I am obsessed with anything that has to do with horses.
So, a few weeks ago when a customer of Mark's {who is a Farrier} offered to give me some of his old horseshoes, I jumped at the opportunity.  I had no idea what I would do with them, but they were just so cool I couldn't pass them up.

After spending some time on Pinterest, and flipping through magazines, I decided I would spray paint them a metallic gold.  I love the way they came out.

Here is the before and after:

In case you are wondering, here is the exact spray paint I used:

I think it would be fun to embellish a wedding or graduation gift with a golden horseshoe, with a quote attached, wishing the recipient luck.

Since Valentine's Day is almost here, I dressed them up this way for now...

Here are some other fun ideas with horseshoes:
Place cards at a rustic wedding...

More place cards...

and wedding favors....

Wouldn't it be fun to send a golden horseshoe to someone special in your life with a note about how lucky you are to have them?  Those 6 golden horseshoes may be going places...

Happy Monday everyone!!

valentines {something out of the box}

Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  I am still debating what I am going to send with Reid to pass out to his classmates this year.  I'll share that soon.  In the meantime, I thought I'd share what we did last year.  We had so much fun making them and they turned out absolutely adorable.  Armommy has expanded the Valentine collection this year with some new and super awesome designs.  You can find them {here}.

I think I might use this one:

Or maybe this one?

They are all so stinkin adorable, it's hard to pick!

Ready to see last year's version?

Reid and I spent the morning working on Valentine's for his class.

I ordered these goody bags and custom stickers from Rae at Armommy.

Aren't they cute?  Rae had lots of fun suggestions for filling the bags, and we decided to use her idea of making fruit loops necklaces for each of Reid's classmates.

I was initially going to use red yarn for the necklaces, but then I saw her idea of using colored twine to fancy up the packaging and thought it would be cute to use the twine on the bags and the necklaces themselves.

And, of course, we had to have something to keep our energy up while making our necklace filled goody bags...

 I love these little frozen Pillsbury cookies.  I seriously buy a box each time I see a new design at the grocery store.  Since we all love them, they only last about a day.  It's a fun way to make festive cookies in a hurry and your kids will love you for it.

This one was piping hot from the oven, but Reid didn't care.  He kept saying "It's fine, Mom.  It's fine."

What about you?  Do you make or buy your Valentine's?

tuesday {??} randomness via instagram

Oops it's Wednesday.  Well, let's just pretend that it's Tuesday and that I got this posted on time.  Sound good?

I am going to be heavy on photos and light on words this week.  Mostly because I have sooo many photos.  All of these photos are from my trip to Colorado last week.  I had such a blast.  Good times with great friends.  There are few people that know and love me the way that Adam and Betsy do.  And, there are few people that can make me laugh that hard for three straight days.  And, I adore their little girls.  When you have boys, it's nice to get to do girly stuff for a few days.  When I left, their little one asked me "Who is gonna do makeup??"  So sweet.  They call me Aunt Ber.  Love.

Ready to check out this week's snaps?

{seriously FEET of fresh fallen snow.  When you are a California girl, that seems like a novelty.  So, I ate some.  Who knew that it would taste so refreshing?  Now I know.}

{Our fave drink.  Cheers!}

{Getting dolled up with my girls}

{Double socks.  Then Uggs.  That's how I stayed warm.}

{Road trip!!  On our way to Rocky Mountain Park.  I couldn't get enough of that place and I can't wait to go back.}

{Beautiful town square}

 {Snow angels!!}

{Adam and Betsy}

{PS The first three pics were filtered through instagram but taken by Adam.  He is a professional photographer and takes some amazing shots.  You can see more of his work here}

Happy Tuesday, err....Wednesday friends!!
